Living to Work

I’ve seen a pattern in my posting times. It usually only amounts to once or twice a month. And I’d like to change that habit. Now that I’m out of school, I should actually have time to write at least twice or three times a week. I also realized that if I’m going to pay money to have this domain up, I should take it much more seriously than I have been. I’ve been brain storming for what I want to write about. More than likely, the topics will be a little less personal.

Recently, I have also realized that I need to learn to live to work. This whole past school year I have lost my internal motivation to just do hard work - whether that be homework, simple chores or working out. I’m upset by the lack of work and the bad results from that. So, I am making a somewhat summer resolution to get me back on track.

In this world, we live to work. It’s as simple as that. Without work, there wouldn’t be much of a purpose towards life. Work could be a daily job, academic studies or personal projects. Everyone on earth has a purpose to do something. And usually everyone my age only has a small idea what it is. It may even take someone a life time to find it.

Learning to live to work is a good thing. Right now, I’m in the process of time managing. I have horrible time management skills even so much that I use my time managing to avoid doing other things. How’s that for irony? I want to get out of this loop and do something productive. I’ve made schedules for myself before, but it’s hard to stick to them. I’m starting to make to-do lists that never get done. But that stops today.

I need help with my brain storming and ideas. If you have anything you think that would be a good topic to write about. Comment on here or just email me at will@postdifferent.com. I’ll post more frequently and don’t be afraid to tell your friends this blog is out there. I hope for it to be come interesting very soon.

Prom

It has been sometime since I’ve updated, so I think I’ll do that now. Last night I went to Prom. I went with a sophomore girl. The theme was Italy. Being part of the prom committee, I had to find Italian dinner music - no easy task. While there I had a blast. One of the most fun experiences I’ve had so far. I can’t wait until next year.

After the prom, there was an after prom party. That was fun as well. We all hung out until about 6AM in the morning and then headed home. Of course there were some intoxicating substances, but I didn’t partake in them. It was fun to see others wasted though.

Holidays

For once I looked forward to my Winter break. In the past I had dreaded it due to the fact that I would have nothing to do. But now I’m overjoyed because I get a break from work even though I’m assigned stuff over break. I haven’t worked on any of it so far and I go back on the 3rd. And with break comes the time to be able to actually blog.

My Winter break was full. First, I worked on my eagle scout project. I made storage units for the music instruments in the band room of my shcool. Then at the request of the teacher, I fixed up stands and a small poorly built shelf that was already present.

On Christmas day my family and I traveled to my relatives. The visit there at first was a bit dull. We ate this big delicious dinner and proceeded to dessert and presents. I got $35 and a calendar that day. The next day I was able to go to the mall. It was PACKED with people. I almost wanted to leave, but I got over it. I went into American Eagle and spent a nice sum of money. That is my favorite clothing store.

That was one side of the family, now I had to wait for the other side; 4 days to be exact. Luckily my grandparents had DSL and a nice new computer I helped set up. At the other side of the familiy’s party it was really no different. We ate and proceeded to presents. I was given this book Children are Americans Too! by Bill O’Reilly. It was an interesting book. I read the whole thing that day. Not only was it easy to read but was highly interesting for me.

But alas I now have to think about school once more. I’ll get through it though. :)

Too Much

This school year is becoming to be way to much to handle. I have four weighted classes, in which two of them are AP courses. I want to get in shape. The teachers at my school just pile on the homework. I understand I’m in a school with higher standards…but I feel like if I completely devote my life to fulfilling every single thing, I will have absolutely no social life.

Some of the homework is just worksheets. And others, I have an average of two to three essays a week. And in one class I have four tests within the next two weeks not including the semester final coming up.In my AP English class we have three books that we are reading right now. Not including the extra readings from the two text books we have (and the essays we have to write on them). It’s just simply becoming way too much. Its piling up and everything.

I try to manage my time well, but I end up stressing anyway and are pressured to get things done. I wouldn’t say I have the best time management skills and I wish I had better ones. Its just so much that I just want to throw it down and quit. I know I can’t do that though.

I am baffled by the way people can handle school, a sport and a significant other all at the same time. I wish I had those skills. These next two weeks will be tough. Then I’ll have my finals and let’s hope I live through that so I can enjoy Winter break.
